Memorial Day Weekend in Reno

Boo Hoo no sunshine for us to enjoy our season tickets to the Aces. At least  Caedon and Maddy got free jerseys and long sleeve T-shirts. We stayed until it started hailing on us. Not exactly the Memorial Day sunny picture you would imagine.

In case you wondering..here is a picture of Maddy last Memorial Day Weekend.

Here is a picture of Yater doing his water treadmill physical therapy after hurting his knee playing with another dog (don't ask!)

Here is a picture of Yater one year ago (the day we got him), two leg surgeries ago:

Tour of California 2011

The good thing about a blog is that you can pick and choose what parts of your life you want to highlight and share. Martin took great pictures, which dipict the fun parts of our vacation and leave out Maddy being terrible 2.5! We all enjoyed the Monterey Bay Equatium and the Dennis the Menace Park, as well as the swimming pools. Although Caedon did ask, "How come adults don't like to swim as much as kids?" as we were trying to get them out of the pool to go to dinner. So let us forget the screaming for milk in the car, let us forget that when we finally pulled over to get milk she had no interest in it. Let us forget that Maddy wanted to explore every public restroom along the California Coast and decided that she was potty trained only to return home to cleaner bathrooms and revert back to going in her diaper. Instead we will remember the cute sea otters, penquins and rays, our real-life tide pool adventure and the Tour of California!

Happy Mother's Day

For several years now we have celebrated Mother's Day by participating in Mom's on the Run, an event supporting breast cancer. The Legarza family made the Reno Gazette Journal this year for our tradition. In the past, my brother or sister has joined us with their families as well. It is a wonderful way to celebrate mother's day, visit with friends and family and support a special cause, especially since we are soo very lucky that Dell has been able to beat breast cancer twice.

Unfortunately, on my side of the family, my grandmother found out she had a malignant pleural effusion (cancer cells in fluid filling up the lung). They don't know where the cancer originated yet, but she has had several melanomas removed. I pray that she does not have to suffer.

Despite my sadness, I wanted to end the day on a special note. I read "Pogonip Magic" to Caedon. This is a wonderful book that Aunt Tracy contributed to our library about the magic of Pogonip. We all need a reminder that magical things do happen sometimes.

Here are happy pictures from our day to end on a good note:
