Maddy's Song

See if you can recognize these classic songs as Maddy sings them. Her exit from the "stage" cracks me up.

Here she is hamming it up with my sunglasses.

Happy Father's Day!

Can anyone guess what Martin wanted to do on his special day? If you guessed biking, you were right. We took our bikes and rode along the path on the Truckee River from Squaw to Tahoe City. After lunch we fed the fish at Fanny Bridge and Martin took a picture of our fannies. We dipped our toes in Lake Tahoe for the first time this summer. On the way back Caedon over corrected and crashed right in front of me. I went over my handle bars and landed on my knees. We all survived. I won't be able to wear skirts to work for a couple of weeks to keep the bruises covered. Despite the minor injuries we had a great time.

Caedon turns Seven!

My little baby boy turned seven on June 16th and it was not without attitude. We had a wonderful celebration at our house. Caedon made a special order for oreo crust cake with chocolate ice cream and whip cream frosting. IT was so specific that I thought I would just make it. Caedon and Maddy helped my crush all the oreos for the crust. The cake was actually fun to make and delicious. Good choice Caedon.

Summer!

The weather is finally warm and we are all enjoying it with picnics in the backyard and riding bikes around the track. Maddy is proudly strutting in her new bathing suit and shorts.

School is out for Summer!

Today was the last day of school! Last Friday Caedon had a talent/untalented show. I was able to take a break from work so that I could attend. Caedon and his friends did a Ghost-Buster skit to the theme song. After we witnessed all the talent, we all danced. I am soo proud of Caedon, he has made amazing progress since the beginning of the year. He started out barely being able to write a word and at the end he could write short stories. He is so funny- all his journal entries and stories are about baseball, skiing or lacrosse. Lacrosse is a recent addition as Martin just bought lacrosse sticks to entertain us in the backyard.

Day Off

On my days off, I hang out with Maddy. She is just learning about self discipline vs. instant gratification. As I was reading her a story about a child making cookies, she decided she really wanted to make cookies, too. Usually, my answer is "no" to such requests, but since I had the time and since I rarely bake cookies, I decided to agree. So we climbed in the car and went to the store for the ingredients.  I feared that Maddy would change her mind after going to the trouble of driving to the store and buying everything. I was sure I would be left making cookies by myself. She actually stuck it out and even helped me frost them.
