Mother's Day

True to our tradition we participated in "Moms on the Run" today. My sister joined us with her three children.  Usually my brother and his family walk with us but they were at Disneyland celebrating Kaitlyn's fifth birthday. We had a great walk and celebrated Dell as our heroine survivor.

April goes out like a lion!

Another month has flown by and we are into May! The last week of April literally blew by and the gusty winds took down a beautiful evergreen in our yard. May has given us hope for better weather. Caedon played baseball and rode his bike in two races this weekend.  Unfortunately, I had to spend a large portion of my Saturday at the hospital as I was on call.  Today was quieter. After a week of snow flurries, it was a real treat  for everyone to play in the yard. Maddy continues to amuse us with her antics, new expressions and obsessions.

Here is our poor tree:
Sometimes we have trouble getting Caedon to write his words so that the letters are the same size. Who knew that chalk and some bricks would cure the problem? Pretty good printing for a kindergartner; now if we could just get him to do it that well on paper.

Maddy really likes puzzles now. We have one puzzle with shapes that recites the name of the shape when you put the piece into place. This puzzle was Caedon's and somewhere along the line the triangle piece was placed in the wrong toy bin, so it is currently missing. When you turn off the light in his room it says "triangle." Maddy loves this puzzle, but it really bothers her that the triangle is missing. Tonight she finally got fed up and decided to do the yoga move called "Downward Dog." She is demonstrating the move quite nicely. When she got bored of that she carried around her alligator purse from Aunt Tracy (yes, it is the purse from "The Lady with the Alligator Purse" - soo cute!) Finally, we got her into her PJs and she brought us her book to read.

Nana's Birthday

Well yesterday was another busy day!  It started out at the Aces ball park. It was Little League day and Caedon walked the field with his team.   After the Aces game we made a quick trip to the park to see all the cousins before my sister left town. Nana's birthday was Saturday, but we celebrated it on Sunday evening. Lauren made a wonderful meal for us, as Stacy was just getting back from Alan's baseball game for the travel team. Maddy played a little music on the piano. Hopefully, Lauren will teach Maddy how to really play some day.  Happy Birthday Nana!

Busy Day

Today was a busy day! Caedon had a baseball game and then he raced in another bike race. My sister came to visit this weekend and so she and my brother came to dinner with their families. All the cousins had a great time. Maddy loves to play in the yard; she never wants to come inside. Some day I will look back on this blog and wonder why I did not have better descriptions of my photos, then I will remember that I was exhausted!

Girl's Weekend

Have you ever searched for that perfect flowering plant for your garden? The one that is resistent to pests, requires very little water and continually brings joy to your garden.  Well my friendship with Ali is like that perfect plant, it has withstood neglect and distance, but it is always there, flowering the garden. So, Ali and I decided we finally needed to give our friendship a little TLC. She planned a relaxing vacation for us at Mandalay Bay. We enjoyed four days of bliss while relaxing at the pool, feeling pampered at the spa and having down time to read our books. Neither one of us will deny that the trip also allowed us to have well-deserved "me" time.  Nor will we deny that our repective husbands were very generous to let us have this weekend away, while they held down the homefronts. I returned home very well rested, and felt very appreciated as I was greeted with smiles and open arms.   Martin even changed the filters and fixed the knobs on Maddy's dresser while I was gone! He and Caedon also managed to have time to race their BMX bikes. Caedon qualified for the finals and came in third place. Evidently, I was too relaxed to take any pictures of my weekend away (Ali was the only responsible one).
Here is a picture of Caedon with his first BMX trophy!

Happy Easter!

Well, it was a busy day of easter egg hunting, eating brunch and hanging out with Cousins.  Martin and Caedon even fit in a trip to Mount Rose if you can believe it.  Thank you Easter Bunny!

Opening Day for Little League

Today was to official start of baseball for Little League.  Caedon and Alan looked great in their uniforms as they walked the field.  Martin will coach both teams, so it is going to be a busy Spring! Maddy wore her uniform (provided by Aunt Tracy)  to cheer on her brother.  Psst ...Aunt Kay, the orange socks are actually the Gator socks you gave her.
