Skies on the Eves

Both Christmas Eve and New Years Eve we skied. Caedon is on the Squaw Valley race training team so unfortunately he is not skiing in any of the photos. His skiing has really improved and he is enjoying the team. On Christmas Eve Stacy, Tracy, Lindsey, Lauren and Alan joined us. They all helped take care of Maddy so that she could come too. On New Years Eve Maddy spent the day with Gandma. Martin took me back-country skiing for the first time, while Caedon was at practice. It was an adventure for me putting skins on the skies, pushing my way of the slope and crossing a creek. You would have thought that was the hardest part, but when it came time to ski back down I freaked myself out. I was afraid of hitting a tree. Of coarse Martin navigated through the powder with his typical wide graceful turns. Oh well..I am proud of myself for getting out there a doing it in the first place.

Christmas Eve
New Years Eve- (it was -2 degrees but sunny and clear)

  1. Are you kidding! You should be super proud of yourself! First of all, you are a really fantastic skier but keeping up with Martin is just tough. And second off all, that is just brave. Period. He would have had all sorts of choice names for me if I'd have given it a whirl (and I'm not sure that I would have). Tripp probably would have tried it if snowboards are allowed and come out with some type of injury so all in all, I say you rock.

I had a dream last night that we took the girls skiing at the place here at Mr. Charleston and I was impressed because it was like Northstar or Rose and we chided ourselves for never having gone and made a commitment to go more often. Then I woke up and remembered it is nothing like Reno/Tahoe and it actually totally stinks. Too bad for us.
